June 3, 2008 Election: Second Place!

RE Run for the 61st Assembly

Hello Friends,

Well, we earned second place in the Democratic primary for the 61st Assembly District in the June 3rd election.  That is fairly impressive for a relatively unknown attorney and college professor with more time than money (and not much time at that), who was asked to run for this race in January of this year for the sake of giving voice to the important issues facing our community.

Because I believe in the power of the individual to effect change in this country, I took on the challenge of running for public office.  With our message of fixing broken-down schools and increasing the number of peace officers on the streets to deter crime before it happens, we were able to generate grass roots support for the campaign.  It was humbling to have true volunteers give their limited time and money to the campaign; knocking on doors and making calls to voters.

Thank you all for your interest in this campaign and your support for common sense government.  Please continue to work in the service of our community.  Your good works matter.  Our government rests on the principle that the citizens rule: “All political power is inherent in the People” (California Constitution, Article II, section I).  Exercise your power in a way that makes us all better off for the effort.

Truly,

Ken White
